| Description: | This document sets forth the policies and procedures that govern Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) counseling services provided by members of the AARP Foundations HECM counseling network. In addition to following this protocol in the provision of HECM counseling services, network counselors must achieve a qualifying score on a uniform national HECM counselor exam developed by the AARP Foundations Reverse Mortgage Education Project. The Project, which also provides support services to the HECM counseling network, is funded by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the AARP Foundation. |
